Rex Chen Biography

    陈佳生,自幼酷爱音乐,早在60年代,就曾拜师中央音乐学院院长马思聪之子马如龙,经其介绍,从师林耀基教授学习小提琴。林教授后来培养出多名荣获国际奖项的小提琴家。他跟随林教授学习,受益匪浅,为自己奠定了坚实、良好的基础。陈先生在大学曾任校管弦乐队、市院校交响乐团小提琴首席。后来赴美、日留学和工作期间,始终未间断演奏小提琴。在纽约、新泽西数次登台演出,并曾教授儿童小提琴。由于对音乐经久不衰、几近痴迷的兴趣和热爱,他多年来收集了大量音乐唱片,范围涉及所有音乐门类和时期,并对音乐相关的各种文化、艺术领域,进行了广泛、深入的研究和探讨。拥有上千张收藏的唱片作为参考,他不仅聆听音乐,还阅读了很多音乐著述,积累了丰富的音乐文化知识。在音乐的欣赏、分析、普及、教育过程中,做出了积极的贡献。

 

Rex Chen Biography

 

Rex Chen.  He loved music very much since his childhood.  He began to learn violin in 1960s from Professor Lin Yao Ji (a famous violin professor), who was very famous all over the world.  Mr. Chen was introduced to Prof. Lin by the violinist Ma Ru Long , son of composer Ma Si Cong.  Mr. Chen learnt a lot from Prof. Lin, who build a solid foundation for understanding music.  During his college time, he was the concert master for two orchestras. After leaving school, he continued to perform violin and appeared on the stages of NY and NJ occasionally.  Also He teaches children to play violin.  Since He studied and worked in America or Japan, he has collected huge amount of classical music records for all the periods. Besides music itself, he is interested in other arts and culture.  He often reads and studies books around these music records, music history, composers’ background and stories. Mr. Chen is very confident to be a good teacher for music education, appreciation and popularization.
