Everbright-Zhiyu Cup Table Tennis Tournament Was Held on May 11

2013 Spring Everbright-Zhiyu Cup was help on May 11. Many people came from far away place like South Jersey, New York, etc. Everbright School Principal, Mr. Jin Mahr was the director of this tournament. Edison Mayer came to start the game and cheered the athletes. The famous lawyer: Mr. Hu, Zhiyu sponsored and participated the game. The tournament referee was Everbright East Branch Principal Jean Sze.

The community events started in the morning. After several rounds, Sanjiv Sharma was the Community Adult event winner, Greg Bristol won Community Under 13 event. Mali and Zhang Hong won the Open Double event.

In the afternoon were high rating events. Under 1950 was a “round robin” event. The winner was a youngest player of this tournament: 9 years old Jeremiah Chow. Open event were hottest game. There came many unexpected results. Many people came to watch and applaud for all athletes and wonderful games. A big, tall and strong coach lost from a 11 years old girl, Amy Wang and Everbright Club coach, Peng Ying, can not be advanced. Everbright Principal Jin Mahr made a high rating player running around and hardly could return. Scott Lurty, a high rating player lost from a lower rated 13 years old boy. The Open final was played between Zongqi Zhong and Allen Wang. They needed to play over 10 returns to win a point. Finally, Zongqi Zhong played better the won the most difficult match.
