Prospective Shadowing at New Bedford Medical Clinic
For approximately 22 hours a week, worked aside an internal physician during
clinical rounds at New Medford Clinic. Observed varies doctor-patient interactions including a variety of diagnoses ranging from possible symptoms of heart disease to basic foot fungi. Discusses doctor’s ethics and gained a basic but clear understanding of the mental and physical attributes of the medical profession.
Weill Medical College of Cornell University (Summer 2007)
Worked aside a post-doctorate researcher on study of cerebral malaria. Research was specific to a strain of malaria that along with an abnormally high fever has neurological effects on the patient. Worked on analyzing its symptoms, treatments, epidemiology, and histopathology.
General Clinic Research Center RA at UMDNJ Newark (Summer 2006)
Volunteered to assist several doctors in numerous research programs, ranging from the effects of a new drug on patients currently under ventilator help, to the attempt to cure the current bird flu using anti-bodies from original survivors of the early 1900’s influenza epidemic. Received certification by the IRB to continue further research elsewhere.
Weill Medical College of Cornell University (Summer of 2004)
Volunteered and was trained in clinical research informatics in the Informatics Core of the Clinical Research Center. Learned data management resources to the administration and investigators of the Clinical Research Center.
AVM Dental Center (Summer of 2003)
Being fluent in Russian, helped as a translator for elderly non-English speaking patients. Helped in the filing and completing of patients records and insurance forms.
Social Action (Grade 10)
Served as a teacher assistant to 3rd grade math teacher. Helped in grading the exams. Organized group activities and class discussions and general appearance of the classroom.
Holmdel Baseball Blue Hornet Camp (Grade 9,10,11,12)
Counselor and instructor at a youth baseball camp. Instructed in fundamental skills, instilled confidence and sportsmanship in young players. Organized drills, team interaction exercises, and provided motivation to youth attempting to improve their athletic and social skills. Worked one-on-one and with dozens of students at a time.
